The start of something new

Happy new year everyone.

2012 brought me the best and worst days of my life.

In June I married my best friend

In November we bought our first home

And in December,Scott was hospitalized..

He had been sick for almost 2 weeks with what we thought was the flu. On December 15th we woke up and Scott wasn’t making sense when he talked. I was terrified and rushed him to the ER.

It’s January 1st and we are still in the hospital. He was moved to a NYC hospital about a week in.
It has been the scariest time of my entire life.

He had encephalitis (swelling of the brain) caused by lupus an auto immune disease. It took them over a week to diagnose him and waiting to figure out how to make him better was excruciating. He got worse everyday, until one day, christmas eve, he started communicating a little again.

For the first week, in the first hospital, I was with him 24/7 when he was transferred to ICU in NYC I wasn’t allowed to stay. I had to start commuting my train everyday which really took a toll on my health. I am exhausted and I haven’t been eating much and when I do it’s not healthy. I was surviving on limited sleep, bread and candy….. Now that Scott is talking and beginning to gain his strength again I am able to focus on my health again.

Scott is finally improving everyday, he is very weak but we are making progress. Tomorrow he will probably be moved to an in patient physical therapy facility closer to home.

2013 is going to be an amazing year. Scott will get stronger everyday and soon he will come home and we can get back to our amazing life together.
